Under the leadership of coach Otto Addo, the side that had been ranked 76th for a series of consecutive rankings has now moved up to 75th in the world rankings. This is Ghana's best ranking finish since October 2024, where they reached 73rd position.
It was through their performance in the September 2025 international break that they earned this progress, getting a draw against Chad and subsequent victory over the Eagles of Mali in the Accra Sports Stadium to remain at the top of Group I.
In the African rankings, though, the Black Stars continue to be placed at their previous position, 14th among African teams.
Coach Addo hopes to better themselves again when the team returns in October for their remaining two group games against the Central African Republic and Comoros on matchdays nine and ten, as Ghana seeks 2026 World Cup qualification to be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
