Black Stars and Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has revealed that Bayern Munich legend Manuel Neuer had a massive impact on his own football and style of play during his youth.
The 33 year old goalkeeper has been in the news following Ghana's qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He has maintained five clean sheets in six matches played since his debut against Chad, a form that has earned him the number one spot as Ghana's goalkeeper.
One of the highlights of his reign in goal has been the effortless communication with the Ghana back four and he attributes all these to watching videos of the German and Bayern veteran goalkeeper.
Neuer has been my role model goalkeeper since I began developing my skills.
The way he kicks, the way he communicates and the way he conducts himself in the box is what I wanted to emulate," he remarked after Ghana beat Comoros.
