National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia has explained his nationwide thank-you tour, stating that it is his duty to say thank you to supporters and party agents who helped the NDC win the 2024 elections.
The tour is the second series of post-election activities by the NDC Chairman after the party took over in January 2025.
However, a few members of the general public and political analysts have criticized it, saying that presidential candidates, and not party chairmen, typically embark on these kinds of tours, especially when the party is in power.
Addressing party loyalists and Chiefs within the Hohoe Constituency on Tuesday, October 14, Asiedu Nketia stood by his tour as being consistent with the NDC's long-established practice of appreciation and solidarity.
"Those who disagree with me can proceed with that, and I will proceed to fulfill my promise. That is why I am here," he continued. "It also suits very well our tradition that when you go and beg somebody to give you something, and you are given what you requested, the next thing is to go and give thanks. That is why I came to thank you all."
He added that it is just proper that as party Chairman who carried out several campaigns prior to the 2024 elections, show a clear exhibition of appreciation to the foot soldiers, volunteers, and sympathizers who labored to make the return of the NDC to power a reality.
