However, according to a police situational report (SITREP) seen by Graphic Online, the suspect, who was leading a police team to arrest his other accomplices, attempted to escape and was shot by the police on Sunday [February 1, 2026], at 7:45 pm.
“When the team got closer to the hideout of the accomplices, the suspect advised the police to use a footpath which leads to the said location.

Investigations, it said, revealed that the Samsung AO7 belonged to one Nafisa Owusu Haruna, who was a resident of Yeji and a victim of the December 2025 robbery operation led by the suspect along the Atebubu to Yeji highway.
"That during the robbery, the driver in charge of the mini van with registration No. AS-6444-14 conveying passengers along the stretch was shot, including victim Nafisa who was shot and killed by the robbers.
"On interrogation of the suspect, Kirror confessed to the crime that he and his accomplices shot and killed the driver in charge of the mini van and managed to rob the passengers on board," the statement said.
The suspect, according to the statement, also revealed the names of his accomplices, namely Umaru, Issifu, Furgur, Ibrahim, Shaibu, and Yelow.
"On 01/02/2026, at 1945 hours, suspect Kirror led the team to a nearby bush in the Atebubu municipality to apprehend his accomplices."
