Former Asante Kotoko midfielder and Fifa-Licensed agent Yusif Chibsah opines that the sacking of GoldStars coach Frimpong Manso could be out of football.
GoldStars fired Frimpong Manso just days after they lost 2-0 to Algerian opponents JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League preliminary round one match.
Manso, who joined GoldStars in December 2023, took over from former coach Michael Osei (of blessed memory) and guided the club, who were under the threat of relegation at the time he took over, to safety.
His impressive debut season was overshadowed by an even better second season, which saw him guide GoldStars to their very first Ghana Premier League title in the 2024/25 season, getting them a spot into the CAF Champions League preliminaries in exchange.
Manso's success in Bibiani, nonetheless, served to do little in shielding him from receiving the boot on decision day.
"Very sad. Personally, I don't think there can be any excuse that would justify his sack. Perhaps there might be some other reason beyond football.
"Certainly, it must be. Because you can't hold him [Frimpong Manso] responsible for GoldStars' loss to JS Kabylie. They were a well-trained side," he said on the GPL build-up programme.
"This is their first continental game as well. They should not expect anything other than giving the players exposure. They did not play badly [neither] were they humiliated," he clarified.
In the Interim, Nana Yaw Amankwah will handle GoldStars' second leg CAF Champions League preliminary game against JS Kabylie on September 28, with rumors going around that Maxwell Konadu is likely to be appointed in place of Manso.
