This is an attempt to ostracize Ken Agyapong's supporters from the NPP – Owusu-Bempah on petition against him

A Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ernest Owusu-Bempah, has suggested that there is an outright attempt to ostracise supporters of a flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agypong, from the NPP.

He explained that long-time supporters of Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia have made worse comments about the leadership of the NPP, but they haven't been sanctioned but when he commented, the party took action against him.

The NPP has sent petitions against him to the party's National Council for consideration.

In a statement on Tuesday, September 24, 2025, the party said it had received formal petitions from members requesting the removal from office of Mr. Owusu-Bempah for conduct that was described as a matter of "grave concern."

The party clarified that since his appointment was made on the recommendation of the National Executive Committee and later ratified by the National Council, the issue has been constitutionally referred to the Council for action.

"The Party reiterates its uncompromising commitment to the enforcement of discipline, defense of its values, and ensuring that all matters are handled with fairness and transparency," the statement, signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, stated.

In an exclusive interview with 3news.com, Owusu-Bempah stated, "I am being persecuted due to my support for Ken.".

"It is a hidden agenda by the Bawumia team to ostracize whoever speaks for Ken Agyapong, that is the intimidation. The party is going for a demo over intimidation are the same individuals intimidating their members who speak up. Abronye called the whole national executive committee kangaroo, but nobody invited him because Bawumia."
