Comedian DKB has denounced the September 23 Anti-Galamsey march as unnecessary, urging organisers to trust President John Mahama's assurance that he was already tackling the problem.
Sharing his views on the issue, DKB said President Mahama has a track record of fulfilling his commitments and must hence be trusted to solve the issue at stake without wide-scale protest.
He further suggested that there would not be a need for demonstrations and that the citizens should believe in what the president says.
A video uploaded by the comedian on his Facebook page, read : "Yo, this is my message to the people who wish to organize the Anti-Gallamtse Demonstration. Listen, when JM, President Mahama, says he's working on something, he really is working on it. He's not like the others."
The comic remembered that even in the last dumsor round that became a norm during the president's time and led to protests by the populace, the president intervened with an action that came at the right time, even to the extent of donating streetlights to protesters.
He continued that ever since, dumsor has been largely a thing of the past. "I remember the Dumsor video. He said he was working on the Dumsor. We thought he was playing, so we went to the demonstration.".
Yes, yes, yes. Finally, who solved Dumsor for us? 9 months this year and not one night or day of darkness. You understand? So if JM says that he is working on it, he is working on it.
He does not lie. He does not do Vandam and Chandam. But if you insist, I would advise you, if you insist on doing the Anti-Galamsey Demonstration, don't panic.
JM exercises democracy. He is not afraid of demonstration. He sees it as a form of expression.
Do you know what? On the day we were going to the Dumsor demonstration, demonstration day, he came to fix street lights for us so that we won't fall into gutter. Imagine! So you, people who are ready to carry out your Dumsor, your Anti-Galamsey Demonstration, just know that the day you hold your demonstration, he will organize sound system and brass band for you, for you to enjoy yourself.
