WAFU B U17 BOYS: Prosper Ogum confident of improved finishing ahead of Ivory Coast showdown

Black Starlets coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, reveals that his charges have been putting in extra effort to improve their finishing ahead of the decisive Group A match against hosts Ivory Coast on Tuesday at the ongoing WAFU Zone B U17 Championship in Yamoussoukro.

Addressing the media after the team's final training session on Monday, Dr. Ogum conceded that although his players have been effective at creating opportunities, their inability to convert opportunities into goals is a cause of concern.

"Creating the opportunity is not a problem. It's conversion and for that reason we had a whole session on goal scoring in our last training session," he explained.

The former WAFA and Asante Kotoko coach also revealed that the technical committee adopted a pragmatic approach by simulating game situations in training to focus strictly on finishing.

"Part of the situations that developed in the game were simulated and we worked on the finishing at our last session of training. The conversion was okay at training and I'm sure our conversion against Ivory Coast would be better," Dr. Ogum revealed.

Ghana, who had earned a 1-1 draw against Togo on their first match of the competition, would want to beat the host nation to improve their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages.
