Former Assin Central Member of Parliament and former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has brought his nationwide Unity Tour to the Bono East Region, calling on party faithful to put aside their differences and shut their ranks behind the NPP's 2024 campaign agenda.
The vocal lawmaker, who has been crisscrossing various regions of the country in the wake of the NPP presidential primaries, was greeted in Bono East in a tempestuous welcome by party faithful, traditional authorities, and youths associations. His visit, in his description, is to increase party cohesion, seal gaps, and put grassroots on board for the December elections.
Addressing a meeting in Techiman, Mr. Agyapong urged solidarity among NPP members, particularly after a closely contested flagbearer election. He appealed to members who had supported different candidates to bury their differences and work towards the victory of the party in 2024.
"Unity is the party's power. We cannot let ourselves be fragmented after primaries. The greater war is yet to come, and that is sustaining the NPP in power," he said.
He also implored the youth to be disciplined, innovative, and hardworking, adding that a united NPP could look into opportunities for the youth in the region.
Local party leaders lauded Mr. Agyapong for taking the initiative, which was uniting the party, in their opinion. Some of the party grassroots also described his tour as reassuring and timely.
The Bono East segment is one of a large-scale outreach by the Assin Central MP to bring together divisions and enliven the base in all regions.
